March 10th: Pre-Pastoral 20th Anniversary Celebration:

We invite you to join us at 4:00pm for an unforgettable Pre-Pastoral Anniversary event. Together, we will honor our Pastor and First Lady. Moreover, we will be worshiping alongside Pastor McDaniel and Christ Memorial.

March 20th: Revival with Pastor Yaves Ellis:

Pastor Yaves Ellis will be our speaker on March 20th at 7 pm. Please join us in our first night of Revival.

March 21st: Revival with Pastor Aaron Mackey:

Continuing the revival, we invite you to join us on March 21st at 7 pm for the second night. We will be joined by Pastor Aaron Mackey.

Hopeful Living is a reminder to us as believers on a couple fronts:

God is the source of our hope. Thus, we don’t have to muster up a hopeful attitude, but instead continually remind ourselves:

Who our God is,
What He’s done and
What He can do.

This is what gives us the “confident expectation” to face life hopefully, even amid adversity. When we are filled with the Spirit, It supernaturally gives us an abundance of hope that we otherwise wouldn’t have. This is what we want on display as others may be waning in confidence and are looking to many of us for their cues. This is also helpful to other believers as we all get low on faith at times.

So, this week take action and put your Hopeful Living on display as you blend healthy practices with faith in our incredible God.

Beloved,

Our time can be very valuable and should be put to good use.

Take Inventory

Now is the time to take inventory of our lives and identify areas where we may have sacrificed the essential at the expense of the urgent.

Ask yourself:

When is the last time that I have shared my faith with someone else?
When is the last time I have led someone to Christ?
Who is it that I am praying for to get saved?
What relationships am I nurturing so that someone may trust me more and be more receptive to the gospel?

If you haven’t thought much about these questions, it may be an indicator that you haven’t been focused on that which is of paramount importance. This week be prayerful, as you turn that around by endeavoring to make sharing your faith one of your vital priorities.

Beloved,

Hard times call for a big God, even under the direst circumstances we are walking in faith, not fear.

Our God has explosive power and He can use it at will and without limitation. This ability of God ought to shape our thoughts and prayers so that we are asking God to intervene in a way that only He can.

Our thoughts and ways are not His thoughts and ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), thus none of us knows perfectly the will of God. But He has given us the privilege of letting our request be made known to Him. Now is the time for the people of God to pray boldly to our God and beseech Him to move in a merciful manner over our families, ministries, churches, cities, nation, world, etc. We should not be held back because of a perspective that says that our God is too small. Be safe, pray big, walk by faith.

The God Who Keeps

Distractions are a part of life. That is why the writer of the book of Hebrews encouraged us to “ lay aside every encumbrance and sin. ” One of the biggest distractions in life is the adversity that we face. During this time we must remind ourselves of the keeping ability of our Christ.

As the Bible tells us, " Now to Him who is able to keep you…before all time and now and forever." That is being kept past, present, and future. Stay focused as we remind ourselves that during this present difficulty, He is still in the keeping business!

What do we say? What is our response to challenging times? What will we say concerning our God? These are pertinent questions as the world is looking at us to see how we are going respond to the conditions around us.

My thoughts? Tell people about our God.

We learn from Peter in the above passage that our God Is:

1. In Control

2. Adequate

3. Equipping us

Our situation most certainly has not caught God by surprise. The best part is that He is willing and able to meet our need. This week make it a point to share with someone the things you know that God Is.

What Time is It? There is a time for talking and a time for walking. The Church always needs to show people our faith by our lifestyle and passions, but that is heightened in times of global adversity. From this text above, we received clear directives on what that can and should look like. We must be like God, be unlike the world, and be thankful.

This week continue to pray that God will help us to put our faith on display before a world and other believers that need it. What time is it? It’s Exhibition Time.

The clock on all our lives is moving. Every second that we live is one less second that we have available to us. It is not natural to think in terms of just how precious time is. But, because it is limited, we must make the most of the time afforded us.

Do not be worried about time lost, or anxious about what awaits you in the future. Live wisely , not by counting the days, but by making the days count.

Tick tock, tick tock.

Promises

9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Beloved:

The Bible is full of promises, one of which being Jesus is coming back. This promise is almost two-thousand years old and has of yet come to fruition. How we treat these sacred promises from God’s Word has a direct connection to how our pilgrimage is lived. It should behoove us to keep this and other Biblical promises in the forefront of our psyche less we overlook some things.

The fact that Jesus has yet to return is not due to His indecisiveness or hesitation; it is due to His mercy. He is merciful to the unsaved by giving them time to be saved and merciful to the church even when we have not been mindful to share our faith like He has charged us to do.

But we still have time to turn a corner and become more deliberate about sharing our glorious gospel with others. Let’s get busy as it is Merciful Time .

Wait For The Lord

Beloved:

Life has a way of wearing us down. The busyness, the stress, the disappointments, and challenges all contribute to us needing refreshment for our souls. I would wager my faith that we all have been there. But what do we do when we find ourselves in that place?

David had an interesting take on the issue as his answer in a word was “ wait .” Not simply wait until things turn around but wait for the Lord. David knew that God was able to deliver him from any predicament and that real and meaningful change would come from Him.

This is a great reminder for us when we find things chiefly out of kilter and it begins to wear on our souls. Take David’s advice; Don’t Just Sit There, Wait!

Beloved:

In life there is so much that we cannot control. We cannot control our boss, neighbors, coworkers, spouse, best friends, children, other’s prejudice, the government, the list goes on. This lack of control can contribute to us feeling helpless in terms of improving our world and personal situation.

David suggested something that all of us have the power to control. We can all ask God to search us and reveal any overlooked or suppressed sin that may be in our heart. This honest, probing self-examination is God’s way of showing us where our shortcomings are and better enabling us to make the necessary adjustments. This not only improves our situation, but also that of those around us.

If we want any environment that we are a part of to improve, one of the best ways to facilitate that is to start with ourselves. This week ask God to search you, and as you make the necessary adjustments, as David suggests, you will be on your way to more intimate fellowship with God through His continual presence.

O Taste And See

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him!

Psalm 34:8

Beloved:

We live in the information age. Just about anything we want to know is a google search away. We can even ask Google, “Tell me about a relationship with God,” and Google will kick out an answer. If we would like, we can begin our own study getting all the data at our disposal concerning a relationship with God. Yes, this may tell us about a relationship with God, but that information is not the same as having a quality relationship with God.

We get to know God by spending time with Him through prayer , meditation , Bible study , and then being obedient (applying) to what the Bible says. The key, as David tells us, is to taste and see. What David is saying is that a quality relationship with God comes by knowing Him through experience. Go for it, get a taste, it's free, and you will be all the better for it.

4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Give thanks unto Him, bless His name!

Psalm 100:4

Beloved:

As believers, worship is what we do. Pastor Tim Keller said, “Worship is seeing God for what He’s worth and giving Him what He’s worth.” But how we approach our worship is just as important as that we worship. But what is the proper posture in which to approach God in worship? When reading Psalm100, the fourth verse, we do not have to guess as we are told what our worship should look like.

First, our worship should include thanksgiving . The psalmist makes sure we do not miss it as he mentions it twice in this verse. Being mindful and grateful for who God is and what He has done in our lives brings our worship into perspective.

Secondly, we are told that God is due our praise . Recounting God’s goodness in our lives is a reminder of His love and care for us.

We can be thankful and sing God’s praises because unlike those in the Old Testament we are not limited to how close we can get to God based on our status. He allows us to go all the way in .

Sometimes the issues of life can push us. They can push us into despair. They can push us into anxiety. They can push us into panic. They can push us into a bad decision. They can push us into paralysis. But they don’t have to. Because our God is, we can be confident in whatever situation life finds us. So, the next time life’s adversity begins to shove you don’t resist the push .

Instead let those issues push you toward our God who can meet us at any need that we may have because His grace is sufficient!

Security In An Insecure World

Beloved:

There are some things that are unavoidable. The stress of life. Unpredictable outcomes. Fractured relationships. Difficult people. And of course, the three trackers that are on all our trails: death, time, and change. The point is that with as much as we would desire life to always be in our control, there is a limit to the control that we really have.

What we need is security during insecure situations. But where can that security be found? It is found in the presence of our God. The psalmist knew that he had made an excellent choice in His God and nothing could separate them, not even death. The key was to continually focus on God and revel in His presence . Thus, security during an insecure world is found in fellowship with our God .

In His presence we are Safe and Secure!

Micah 7:7

Beloved:

Sometimes there are so many challenging situations going on in our lives that it can become confusing, frustrating and anything but promising.

If we are not careful, this can lead to hopelessness. Especially when those around us have given up or worse, given in to the decadence that they see around them. Those are the circumstances that Micah was facing. In times like these, we must take a stand for God .

A stand that says:

“I dare to be different.”
“I refuse to go along with the crowd.”
“Call me passé if you want.”
“I don’t care if everyone else is doing it.”
“I am willing to stand alone if I am standing with God.”

This is what the world desperately needs to see in us. That like Micah, we are not afraid to go against the grain by saying, "But as for me…" as we watch expectantly , wait patiently , and trust confidently.

God Looks At The Heart

1 Samuel 16:7

Beloved:

Most all of us have been guilty of merely looking at someone and thinking that they were not qualified for something. Maybe we thought they were not intelligent enough, did not have the necessary experience, or for some other reason did not look the part. Conversely, we have probably looked at someone and assumed that they had what it took to get the job done; only to be disappointed when they were given the opportunity.

We have probably all heard the phrase that you can’t judge a book by its cover. God is not judging us based on our physique, hairstyle, smile, or any other part of our physical appearance. God is looking at our heart. The inner core of a person that defines who they are.

Like David, we should be strong with the inside stuff. Things like faith, humility, integrity, and mercy. As believers, we must get past physical appearances and get to the heart of the matter.

Sister Rose Marie Harden

In Memory of Sister Rose Marie Harden 04/23/1933 - 04/11/2022

Mom/ Mema/ Aunt Rose encouraged everyone to have a relationship with God. God was truly who she relied on and knew so very well. Her relationship with God shined through in her fellowship with others and the way she carried herself.

She had mountains in life, with seeing three of her children off to rejoice in God's presence and surviving a house fire, but her faith in God never wavered. She was a true beacon of love and beautiful example of a God-fearing, faithful woman. We are blessed to have had her in our lives and are encouraged in times of uncertainty because of how steady and strong her example of faith was.

To God be the glory forever and ever.

Blessed Are The Merciful

7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7

Beloved:

According to Lawrence O. Richard’s Expository Bible Dictionary, mercy is compassion expressed to meet human need. In Christ we have received mercy as God withholds the punishment that we deserve because of our sin.

Paul, in Ephesians 5:1 tells us that as believers we should be imitators of God. If we are to imitate God will must reflect the quality of mercy. Jesus tells us as much in Luke 6:36 where He says, Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. It may be difficult for us to be merciful to others who have injured or taken advantage of us.

Our first thought may be, “Why should I be merciful to someone who has wronged me and doesn’t deserve my mercy?” What we must keep in the forefront of our mind is that we do not extend mercy to others because they deserve it, we extend mercy to others because that is what God has done for us. None of us were deserving of God’s mercy but He has looked past our faults and met us at our supreme need.

God has promised that if we are merciful to others, He will be merciful to us in our time of need. Do not miss your blessing, be merciful!
